Krueger is an experienced financial professional who has worked extensively in the health care field. He is the chief financial officer of SullivanArc, a nonprofit long-term health care corporation based in Monticello that focuses on care for persons with developmental disabilities.

Celebrating the Contributions and Achievements of Older Americans |

Elant marks Older Americans Month in May with a variety of activities and events
Mark LaBruna, activities director for Elant at Goshen, has made big plans for Mother’s Day. On Sunday, May 13, he has arranged for Hudson Valley cabaret performer Stephanie Romm to perform for residents and their family members. The event is intended to not only entertain the mothers in attendance, but also to celebrate Older Americans Month and to kick-start National Nursing Home Week, which runs through May 19.
Since 1963, communities across the country have come together to celebrate Older Americans Month – a proud tradition that shows our nation’s commitment to recognizing the contributions and achievements of older Americans. National Nursing Home Week (NNHW) spotlights nursing home residents and staff and encourages everyone to celebrate those that make a positive difference in their lives every day. All across Elant’s communities, activities directors have planned special events to mark these celebrations with the residents and their families.

Educational initiative aims to build relationships in local communities
FISHKILL, N.Y. (April 2, 2012) – On Friday, March 30 Elant at Fishkill and Elant at Wappingers Falls hosted the year’s first Community Exchange at the Fishkill campus. The breakfast program educates attendees about Elant’s programs and services and builds relationships in the communities that Elant serves. The first Community Exchange breakfast debuted on October 12, 2011 at Elant at Newburgh.
The program invites members of the community, as well as local businesses into Elant for breakfast, and provides an opportunity for attendees to network, learn about Elant’s programs and services and take a tour inside Elant’s community.

GOSHEN, N.Y. (March 28, 2012) – It is estimated that of all the people who have ever reached age 65, half of them are still alive today. Because men and women are living longer than they ever have, Glen Arden – the Hudson Valley’s premier continuing care retirement community– has begun educational seminars to help seniors make decisions that will provide them with financial security, a healthy lifestyle and peace of mind. The first seminar – held in March – reached its capacity with 60 participants; two more seminars are planned for April and May.
“It is very important for senior citizens to be educated and informed about financial and lifestyle choices that affect both them and their families,” said Maureen Torelli, Glen Arden Administrator. “Glen Arden is proud to be a leading resource for senior citizens as they plan for their future.”

Elant Announces New Community Initiatives |

Training and recreational programs made possible by local grants
GOSHEN, N.Y. (March15, 2012) – Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health care and housing solutions, is pleased to announce it has received grants for two new programs: ballroom dance classes for seniors has been funded, in part, by Orange County Tourism and the County of Orange; also, CPR training for Elant staff has been granted by the John T. Sloper Fund of the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley.
Beginning in April, Elant at Goshen and Elant at Newburgh will offer four, one-hour ballroom dancing classes titled, “Swinging with Seniors.” These classes are free and open to the public, and instruction will be provided by Joseph Maraday from Strictly Ballroom, based out of New Windsor. Each session will accommodate up to 24 participants on a first-come-first-served basis, including Elant residents. Seniors will have the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned within the year, in order to share the experience with the community.

Jeffrey A. Weiss Memorial Arts Series Brings Joy to Elant Residents |

Local artists to provide workshops, exhibitions and performances for residents and public
GOSHEN, N.Y. (March 15, 2012) – With tears welling up in his eyes, Morton Waters, a resident of Elant at Goshen and a jazz enthusiast since he was 15, leaned over to jazz artist Christopher Dean Sullivan and said with a smile, “You can’t imagine what this has done for me today. It’s the greatest thing I’ve enjoyed in a long time.”
Mr. Waters was among the Elant at Goshen residents who were listening to the soulful sounds of jazz from the Christopher Dean Sullivan Trio from the Cornerstone Arts Alliance in Goshen. It was part of a recent kickoff event for the residents, celebrating the new Jeffrey A. Weiss Memorial Arts Series. The Arts Series is a new program that will provide free art classes, exhibits and performances for Elant residents and the public.

GOSHEN, N.Y. (March 1, 2012) – Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health care and housing solutions, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Access Physical Therapy and Wellness, which has opened a new office within the Elant at Goshen Adult Home.
Access Physical Therapy and Wellness, a provider of outpatient physical and occupational therapy, will now offer these services on-site to residents of the Elant at Goshen Adult Home. The service allows residents the convenience of being treated for outpatient therapy, should they need it, in the comfort of their home – eliminating the need to arrange for outside appointments and transportation.

Residents of Four Elant Communities to Gain Access to More Personalized Care through ArchCare Advantage |

GOSHEN, N.Y. (February 14, 2012) – Residents of four Elant communities in Dutchess and Orange counties will soon reap the benefits of enhanced personalized care and around-the-clock coordination of medical care and other services through ArchCare Advantage, a Medicare Advantage HMO Special Needs Plan.
Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health care and housing solutions, has entered into an agreement with ArchCare to offer ArchCare Advantage to residents of Elant at Fishkill, a 160-bed skilled nursing care and rehabilitation center located in Beacon. A representative from ArchCare has been on-site for the past several weeks and has started enrolling Elant at Fishkill residents into the program. ArchCare Advantage will be phased into other Elant communities in Wappingers Falls, Goshen and Newburgh as agreements are signed later this year.

Elant Granted $9,767 from Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for Purchase of Shower Equipment |

GOSHEN, N.Y. (February 10, 2012) – Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health care and housing solutions, is proud to announce that Elant at Brandywine has received a $9,767 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The award was one of 76 grants totaling almost $450,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that aid in providing more opportunities, access and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families, and caregivers. Since the program was developed in 1999 by the late Dana Reeve, almost 2,000 grants have been awarded, totaling over $15.2 million.
Elant at Brandywine, a 131-bed skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center located in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., will use the grant to purchase and install a specialized shower-bathing trolley. Distributed by Sure Hands, Inc. of Pine Island, N.Y., the shower-bathing trolley is ergonomically designed to provide a safe, comfortable and easy bathing experience for individuals living with mobility impairment and paralysis. The product also provides an easier, safer method for the caregivers assisting with bathing.

Elant at Fishkill Hosts Intergenerational Camporee for Scouts, Residents |

FISHKILL, N.Y. (Jan. 4, 2012) – Elant at Fishkill brought together people of all ages for recreation, education and communication at the community’s first-ever Intergenerational Camporee on Oct. 8.
The Intergenerational Camporee paired Webelo Scouts No. 1 from Pack 37 in Pine Bush, with 30 residents from Elant at Fishkill’s 160-bed skilled nursing home facility for a day. Twelve Scouts, siblings and family members set up tents, played games, built a camp fire and cooked out, sharing s’mores, memories and music with Elant residents.

Elant Announces 2012 Jeffrey A. Weiss Memorial Art Series |

Art series for Elant residents, community members to be launched early next year
GOSHEN, N.Y. (Dec. 21, 2011) – Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health care and housing solutions, announced today the creation of the Jeffrey A. Weiss Memorial Art Series, a program that will provide free art classes and exhibits to residents of Elant at Goshen, as well as to the senior community in early 2012.
The series was made possible through a bequest from the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Weiss. The couple established the fund in memory of their son, Jeffrey, who had a passion for the arts. Participants will have instruction in numerous art forms including painting, sculpture, writing workshops, dance, theatre, poetry, music and more. In addition to twice-monthly formal instruction by local artists who will come to Elant, the series has plans to include monthly art exhibits, performances and presentations which will coincide with the month’s featured art medium. An art show of participants’ work is planned for September.

Elant's Gingerbread House Contest Gets Residents in the Holiday Spirit |

GOSHEN, N.Y. (Dec. 15, 2011) – Elant recently held a network-wide gingerbread house contest to help get residents in the spirit of the holiday season. The judging took place on Friday, Dec. 9 at Glen Arden and featured dozens of participants, festive piano music (provided by Glen Arden resident Beth Cantline), hot cider and holiday cookies.
The activity staff from each Elant campus helped the residents design and build the houses, which took most residents more than one month to complete. On Dec. 9, the houses were transported from their respective campuses to Glen Arden, where contest participants came to watch the judging and enjoy the festivities. Todd Whitney, Elant’s President and CEO, Nicholas Lanza, Elant’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Kathy Iozzino, Elant’s Senior Director of Marketing, judged the contest.

Elant at Newburgh Oktoberfest a Success |

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 2, 2011) – Community members and residents enjoyed a festive, fall afternoon at Elant at Newburgh’s Community Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 15. All proceeds from the event’s activities benefitted the Elant Foundation Newburgh Renewal Committee, which raises funds for Elant at Newburgh residents.
The October 15th event was a free, family-friendly celebration featuring pumpkin painting, entertainment, vendors, food and an Apple Pie Bake-Off with three prize winners. The Bake-Off winners were: Tiffany Meyer-Bozdaj of Milton, N.Y., who took first prize, a $50 gift card for Adams Fair Acre Farms; Sandy Sutton of Newburgh, who won second place, a gift basket with a $25 gift card from Adams Fair Acre Farms; Ava Sutherland of Walden, N.Y., who won the third place prize of a gift basket with $15 gift card. Pies were graded on appearance, flavor, creativity, crust color, texture, doneness, pie filling consistency and moistness.

Elant at Newburgh to Host Oktoberfest on October 15 |

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2011) – Elant at Newburgh will host Oktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 15. The free, family-friendly event will feature pumpkin painting, entertainment, a farmers market, vendors, food and more.

10th Annual Elant Foundation Polo Picnic a Great Success |

Funds raised will enhance resident environments, improve technology resources
GOSHEN, N.Y. (September 28, 2011) – A day of fun, fashion, remembrance and polo under beautiful late-summer skies turned into another wonderful fundraiser that will benefit the Elant Foundation and Elant’s residents.
The Elant Foundation’s 10th Annual Polo Picnic was held on September 18 at Blue Sky Polo Club. Proceeds will go toward this year’s fundraising campaign “Bridging Generations, Making Connections,” whereby Elant will enhance environments and incorporate technology resources for residents to communicate with distant loved ones. The funds raised from the campaign will also enable Elant to purchase software to enhance the cognition of residents suffering with dementia.
