Goshen, N.Y. - Sept. 11, 2009 - Elant, Inc. Is pleased to announce that its Celebration Float displayed during the recent Goshen Bicentennial Parade earned the designation of “Most Beautiful” by parade judges.
The float, themed “Garden Party/Birthday Party,” was adorned with tissue paper flowers, wrapped gifts, and a towering cake (constructed by Elant Environmental Services) to not only celebrate Goshen’s 200th birthday, but to celebrate Elant’s anticipated 25th birthday in 2010.
A group of 15 Glen Arden Independent Living residents worked for more than six hours to create the nearly 200 flowers for the float.
Float riders (and committee volunteers) included Glen Arden Independent Living residents Dolores Corio, Mary Jane Sorrell, and Jody Tournoux. Glen Arden employees Tina Baisley (Activities director) and Dee Steeger (assistant administrator), in addition to Steeger’s husband, Bob Steeger, also rode on the float. Elant at Goshen Activities Director Mark LaBruna drove the truck with the help of his wingman, Collin Casey, the son of Elant at Goshen Executive Director Dana Diorio-Casey. In the back of the truck were Glen Arden Executive Director Maureen Torelli, Diorio-Casey, and Mindy Quinn, Glen Arden Marketing director.
Other committee members included Elant employees Justine Berra, Tim Paffenroth, and Joe Macerone.
More than a dozen Glen Arden residents watched the parade from the sidelines under a tent set up by the Goshen United Methodist Church.
